why tough trees?
Fighting the harsh growing conditions in Western Oklahoma can be a battle. We grow all of our trees from seed and only grow from the toughest provenances available. This gives you a start of trees with superior genetics to help fight back against the weather.
Air root pruning & why it matters
Air root pruning is the foundation of our growing system. When it comes to the trees we sell we have often loved them for many years before they go out to our customers. Shown above is a few steps in our growing system. Starting with the far left showing our first year seedlings grown in milk cartons on a hail screen bottom, then they move up into 1 gallon RootMaker pots. We then split our 1 gallon crop in half, the first half will go into 5 gallon containers to finish out the following fall. Finally the second half will head into 16” High Caliper bags to finish out as a 2” Caliper.
